Consumer Lawsuits and Litigation in Wisconsin

I NEED SOME (FREE) LEGAL ADVICE

I talk to people (remember, free consultations) who are unsure if they need a lawyer. Maybe you had something happen in connection with the purchase of an item, something unusual is going on with credit card, your mortgage escrow account Is a mess, or frankly something else that is troubling you. Let's jump on the phone and talk. Perhaps your rights have been violated (and we can talk about filing a lawsuit), or maybe you need to talk to a different type of lawyer (and I can give you some recommendations). Regardless of outcome, let's chat so you can have some peace of mind. We offer free online scheduling for appointments.

WHAT TYPE OF LAW DO YOU PRACTICE

At holiday parties, I am asked this question by friends and family. I always respond with “I handle consumer law cases.” I have handled cases ranging from identity theft, defending people who have been sued by their creditors, vehicle repossessions, used and new car fraudulent (lemon law) sales, creditor and debt collector harassment, along with countless other types of issues. Wisconsin has consumer protection laws designed to protect you – the consumer. These laws operated in connection with a variety of federal statutes that protect your rights.

I MIGHT NEED TO FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY

Hard times happen. Often people are considering a bankruptcy filing. If you are unsure if bankruptcy would be a “good fit,” or you want to understand your non-bankruptcy options, let's talk. While I no longer take on bankruptcy clients, I'm happy to talk about the process and what financial circumstances have you considering bankruptcy. I can also suggest bankruptcy attorneys in your area.

WHAT IS CONSUMER LAW

Consumer laws are statutes, regulations, and rules that protect consumers from businesses. This could you be your credit report, debt collection, mortgage issues, finance companies, payday lenders, lemon law, vehicle repossession, or any other issues involving a violation of your rights.

Consumer laws are created at both the state and federal level and apply to a wide array of situations. The purpose of these laws is to protect you – the consumer – from deceptive abusive, harassing, or unfair practices. The Wisconsin Consumer Act – a body of law that applies to many consumer issues in Wisconsin – has the stated purpose “To protect customers against unfair, deceptive, false, misleading and unconscionable practices.” That purpose serves as an important backdrop for the lawsuits brought by consumers. As a regular litigator of consumer issues in Wisconsin, I look forward to discussing your situation.

WHERE IN WISCONSIN DO YOU HANDLE CASES

We can use video conferencing, phone calls, and email to work on your case. I've driven many miles all over the state representing consumers and I would be honored to do the same for you.
